Mastering Social Media Contribution: Lessons Learned from Traffic Secrets by Russell Brunson

I have now made it through the first twelve chapters of Traffic Secrets: The Underground Playbook for Filling Your Websites and Funnels with Your Dream Customers by Russell Brunson. The motivation for reading this book is to really fill our sales funnel and business operation with more leads and more opportunities to connect with people to whom we can provide added value. This book is really teaching me a number of ways to build such traffic. Currently, I am a minor consumer of social media – I think I probably consume for about 15 minutes each day. This book has helped me realize I need to produce at least as much as I consume per day – otherwise, I am not doing my job as the lead person in our organization responsible for lead-generating for talent and opportunities.

I have always struggled with how to approach social media contribution….the rhythm…and really grasping the rationale behind what I ultimately choose to share with others in my posts. The most significant concept I have taken away from this book thus far is the simple model Brunson shares on what to post:

Social media strategy for business leaders in Austin, TX.

Think of the five main areas in your life about which you are most passionate. Create posts, one at a time – however often you decide to post – and just work your way through the five passions for content ideas. For me, those five passions are family, faith, real estate, leadership, and wealth-building. The underlying concept in the execution of this model is not to just take snapshots in time of what you are doing in the moment, but to do well-prepared posts that talk about family, faith, real estate, leadership and wealth. Post fully-developed messages – whether it be a story, or just asking a question, or making a bulleted list that provides value to consumers. Share this with your followers so that they can gain some value from it, while also being entertained and/or informed, and learning more about you or what’s going on in your life.

When I came across this model, it gave me a lot of encouragement, motivation and freedom to create posts and actually feel like I am not just bothering someone or speaking too much about myself or sharing things that won’t be of value to people. I know that if I can stick to this model, I will deliver value. And I know that if I deliver value, I will be in a relationship with more people. And if I get into relationships with more people, I know it will turn into more business and more talent on our team, which is my ultimate goal.

I hope this simple model brings value to how you interact with people on social media and how you become a contributor yourself, and not just a consumer.

God Bless!
