Challenge Your Teammates to Think Bigger

In my recent reading of Nine Figure Mindset, author Brandon Dawson really harps on the importance of challenging his team to think bigger. He asserts that “thinking bigger” for the future is fueled by accepting less today. A humbler lifestyle today affords the opportunity to create a bigger life in the future.

Recall that Dawson’s book is written to inspire readers, through the lens of his own personal career experiences, to pursue the right shift in thinking to attain success. Instead of allowing potential employees to think that joining a smaller, but growing, company is a recipe for working twice as hard for less money, Dawson harnessed the power of big thinking to inspire talented career-seekers with his big vision for the future. Vision casting for a bigger life for yourself and every member of your team is a great way to recruit and retain top talent. Moreover, it is the responsibility of a leader to cast an exciting vision, to believe in it, and to get people moving in that direction.

Another way to think big is to think innovatively. In 10x Is Easier Than 2x, authors Dan Sullivan and Benjamin Hardy challenge readers to think in such a way that leads you to better answers to your big questions. Better ideas allow your company to provide or fulfill a true need of the current market. Their lessons illuminate the limited thinking of “2x” – when you just push your company to work harder to produce more, the best you will be able to achieve is working twice as hard. And you can’t work only twice as hard to achieve 10x results. Thinking “10x” forces you to think bigger, more creatively.

You need to push yourself and your team to think bigger. How can you get your team to think 10x, and then get your company positioned with the talent and the processes you need to be able to produce 10x the value for your customers?

Ultimately, your job as a leader is to think about your future designs and communicate that thinking. Are you doing enough of each of these things regularly?? You must teach your people how to think so you can all build something special together.
