Three questions that will change how you do everything

This week, I watched a YouTube video from Tony Robbins that I found particularly meaningful and worthy of sharing. The title of the video is, “These Three Questions Will Change How You Do Everything.”

1.     What are you going to focus on?

2.     What does this mean?

3.     What am I going to do with what I am going to focus on?

Whatever you choose to focus on affects you. We cannot focus on everything; we can only focus on a small number of things and, as Robbins says, that is what we experience in life. Robbins says,

FOCUS = FEELING

Whatever you focus on is what you are going to feel.

Most of us often do not make the decision of what we are going to focus on consciously. And yet, what we choose to focus on is the most important decision we can make! What we are focused on creates a feeling in us, and that feeling is what propels us into action. Said another way: when we assign a meaning to something we are focused on, that meaning will produce a feeling and that feeling will determine the actions we take.

If these three questions drive our productivity every day, it is important to also understand the three patterns of focus.

Are you a person who focuses on what you have? Or what you don’t have?

Just consider technology in your business. When you brainstorm around your technology, do your thoughts go toward what you don’t have available to you with your current technology? Or, do they consider your current technology and how to maximize it? If you are focusing on what you don’t have, and what you have to go get, then you are a person who generally walks this earth focused on what you don’t have. This makes it very difficult for you to be a happy and grateful person. Fortunately, that is something you can switch! You can train your mind to think about what you do have – but it takes focus. Focusing on what you have will ultimately make you a happier person.

Do you focus on what you can control? Or what you cannot control?

Generally, intelligent people know the answer to this. They focus on what they CAN control because they are action-oriented. And if you can control something, then you will take action on it. Remember to remain intentional with your focus so as not to unconsciously allow unwanted things drive your focus.

Do you focus on the past, the present, or the future?

It is, of course, important to give attention to all three. We need to learn from the past, take advantage of the present, and plan for the future. However, to be happy and fulfilled, you don’t want to dwell too long in the past. You should learn from the past and then quickly move away from it. Happiness is created in the present and a big life is built by planning for the future. You need to live in the moment to enjoy true happiness and plan for the future so your life continues to grow.

Tony Robbins says these three questions are happening every moment of your life. Train your brain to see the unbelievable magic and magnificence in your daily life and focus on the feelings that gives you daily. You will feel more energy and happiness fill you.

I hope this blesses all of you. Focus brings production so be sure to keep it a part of what you do every day.
